Wattamolla Lagoon - the new Tree by Torch-Light
Camera: Nikon D700. Lens: 24-70mm F/2.8. Shot at 6.43pm on 11th September, 2014. A 181 sec Manual exposure, with no Filters used. Looking North across the lagoon, at a Tree that was washed over the Waterfall in the recent Rain event, which gives you an indication of the enormous body of water that smashes through the Lagoon at these times... I love to leave the shutter open in extended Exposures, using Light-Painting to fill in a foreground, or to highlight detail in my composition. Light-Painting with my Mag-Lite torch enables me to catch lots of detail in this image Typically, this image uses a background to frame the scene, emphasising distance & capturing scale. I love everything about this image. The area is Nature at it's best, & the Detail in this image gives me huge pleasure.
Display note: This is a Dark image. It explores Imaging at low Light levels; a subject I'm passionate about. For best enjoyment of this image, I advise positioning on a light-coloured wall, in a room with high levels of Ambient light. Dedicated image-lighting is recommended.
