The North Cronulla Rock-Shelf - on My Rock (1)

$290.00

Camera: Nikon D810. Lens: Nikkor 24mm F/1.4 (Prime). Shot at 6.41am on 8th March, 2015. One of my favourite shooting spots in the Cronulla area is the (slightly) raised rock on the rock-shelf between the 2 beach-pools. The swell & tide have to be low, but if there's no swell, the image `goes to Sleep'. Implied movement is good. Also good is foreground detail. It gives maximum interest. That's about all a Photographer can do to build an image. The rest; well hope springs eternal. And, sometimes, hope is rewarded. On this day, the usual bank of offshore Summer cloud had enough structure to allow the Sun's rays through in a diffuse way that enabled me to capture detail of the cloud's structure. Very rare. Usually the Sun smashes everything in it's vicinity, leaving what I regard as an ugly smash of blown pixels in the image. One of 2 images from the shoot, 1 of my favourite images. This display lasted less than 4 images; perhaps 2 minutes. Then the cloud killed it. Image Size: 315 x 483mm - $290 (Framed Print, thru Paypal).

Display note: This is a Dark image. It explores Imaging at low Light levels; a subject I'm passionate about. For best enjoyment of this image, I advise positioning on a light-coloured wall, in a room with high levels of Ambient light. Dedicated image-lighting is recommended.
