The Cathedral of Ferns - Spectacular Tree-Ferns

Camera: Nikon D810. Lens: 24-70mm/f2.8 @ 45mm. Shot at 12.01pm on 10th April, 2015. The Cathedral of Ferns is an extra-ordinary experience. Almost describable as a jumble of Tree Ferns, in all stages of their lives, with a thick (& very soft) ground cover of Fern Bracken & Leaf Mulch; all at an angle of about 20 degrees. The peace is only occasionally interrupted by a muffled, distant sound; people talking, or a car going towards Mt Irvine. The earthy smell of decaying vegetation underpins an unforgetable experience.

Display note: This is a Dark image. It explores Imaging at low Light levels; a subject I'm passionate about. For best enjoyment of this image, I advise positioning on a light-coloured wall, in a room with high levels of Ambient light. Dedicated image-lighting is recommended.
